Cancer care and racial equity study NCI
The "Greensboro Cancer Care and Racial Equity Study: A CBPR Approach" will investigate the complexities in the system of healthcare which may explain deviations from reasonable breast cancer care obtained by African American patients, as compared to White patients. The research questions and study design were developed, through an 18-month planning grant, by the Greensboro Health Disparities Collaborative of 35 community, academic, and health professionals using a community-based participatory research approach to: (a) establish a research partnership; (b) understand and agree on the language for social/political analysis or racism in creating racial disparities; and (c) design a study to identify characteristics of a local medical community that may or may not contribute to disparities in health outcomes.

CBPR Core Carolina-Shaw partnership to eliminate health disparities
The goals of the UNC-Shaw Partnership are to take advantage of the existing close relationship between Shaw University and UNC by combining the research expertise at UNC with Shaw's expertise working with and training in black communities.

HIV Epidemiology Among African American Women in North Carolina
This is a three-site collaborative agreement with CDC to conduct a cross-sectional study to characterize the risk of HIV infection among minority women in the southeastern United States.

HIV-Positive Prison Releasees Access to HIV Care and Services
This randomized, controlled trial seeks to assess the impact of a strengths-based bridging case management program on access to HIV Care and services for HIV-infected inmates at release from prison.

Project STYLE
The goal of this project is to ID and assist College age AA males who are HIV positive get into medical care and stay in care. Project hosted at UNC School of Medicine, NCCU, and the NC Alliance of AIDS Services.
