Criminal Justice Work Group
The Core G sponsored Criminal Justice Work Group (CJWG) has a rich history of successful grant development, publications, and program implementation. Reinvigorated in the Spring of 2009, the CJWG seeks to think critically about issues of criminal justice and HIV, to raise awareness about these issues, and to develop interventions to address the challenges of this area of research and program implementation. Chaired by Dr. Catherine Fogel of the UNC School of Nursing, the CJWG has founded a diverse steering committee whose members include Drs. Carol Golin, David Wohl, Adaora Adimora, Becky White, and Anna Scheyett. The members of this steering committee were instrumental in previous CJWG activities and organization, and have a demonstrated dedication to this area of research.
In addition to developing collaborative approaches for new and innovative research, the CJWG is Currently planning to host a national symposium that will focus on social, behavioral, clinical, and biomedical issues of conducting research and implementing interventions in the broad topic of criminal justice and HIV. The group hopes to hold the symposium in the Summer of 2010.
